Larijani: Tehran Welcomes Logical Approaches to Nuclear Issue

Iran's Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani has said that Tehran welcomes logical approaches to Iran's peaceful nuclear activities case.

In an address to the 3rd international meeting of the parliament speakers of member states of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Geneva, on Monday, Larijani said Iran is after usage of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, while adding that Iran also welcomes logical approaches such as goal-oriented talks, and the conclusion of trilateral Tehran Declaration is a clear example of this approach.

Iran, Turkey, and Brazil inked a ten-clause declaration in Tehran on May 17, based on which Iran conditionally accepts nuclear fuel exchange in Turkey's soil.

The tripartite Tehran Declaration was widely welcomed by independent countries, global political figures and organizations.

Larijani also pointed out that the Iranian nation is determined to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and illegal and inhuman efforts such as imposition of sanctions will have no impact on the Iranian nation's resolve, to this end.

The Iranian officials have on numerous occasions emphasized on the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear activities and have noted that West's pressures can not obstruct the Iranian nation's access to its inalienable rights.

The West has imposed a number of sanctions on Iran in a futile bid to halt Tehran's peaceful nuclear activities. However these sanctions have been useless due to alertness of the Iranian nation and the Islamic system of government.

In further remarks, in his address to Geneva meeting, Larijani said the unhealthy structure of power in the international scene has led to misuse of specialized international organizations, including the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which is detrimental for mankind in the current era and in the future.

Larijani also pointed out that the staging of third global meeting of Inter-Parliamentary Union is a sign of efforts made for cooperation and interaction between UN and Inter-Parliamentary Union for further usage of actual capacity of parliaments in global domains.

The countries' parliaments can play an effective role in cooperation of nations in different realms for establishment of just and democratic conditions in the global scene.

Larijani pinpointed that the United Nations has been founded to safeguard global peace and security and to prevent violence and wars, while criticizing the current conduct of this international body and underlining that UN has failed to conduct its mission in an appropriate manner.

He named adoption of double standards by a few countries such as the US, and the unilateral policies and misuse of specialized international organizations as the reasons behind the inefficiency of United Nations.
